So this week I decided to work on my typing again by playing Ninja Cat and Zombie Dinosaurs. I have to say for being a productive game it was pretty fun as well. I was actually getting competitive with myself and realizing that I do struggle in terms of accuracy a lot. I also tried out the Typing Alien game which I didn't find as much fun. I guess what I like most about Ninja Cat was the fact that in a weird way it was like Fruit ninja a game I use to play on my iPhone but instead of swiping you typed. I think this game would be great for young kids trying to learn how to type and who knows maybe I will even play it when I'm bored.
I can't remember exactly when I learned to type because I feel that computers have been around for me since early grade school. I'm sure that I learned somewhere in that time period but the only difficult typing class I remember was in 7th grade where we had accuracy and speed tests. I wish these games would have been a part of that class. I know that there is definitely room for improvement with my typing but I'm not worried about it being that I have never ran into any difficulties with my work due to it.

Tech Tip: Typing Test
I used the Key Hero site to perform a typing test to see my accuracy and speed when it comes to typing on a laptop. What I liked about the web site's test was the simplicity of the rules and the operating system. I didn't like however that when you mess up you had to back space and fix everything to improve your accuracy. I've personally never noticed a problem with my typing skills but after taking the test one time I realized that I was below average on speed but above average on accuracy. This makes me want to work on trying to type faster because I want to always be competitive with others. The only time I have ever tried to work on my typing skills was in a computer class I took in middle school. Honestly I don't think it is that big of an issue for me, but I do believe that people who can type faster and are more accurate are better readers and thinkers. I know my reading speed is actually slow so maybe this will help me get my reading up better if I try to type faster each time. Who knows maybe it would decrease the time I spend doing home work as well.
PS: I tried to type this blog as quickly and accurately as I could as well.

I wasn't sure what to create this picture for so I thought I would make it to possibly remind people that Curb Your Enthusiasm comes on tonight. I'm very excited because this is one of my favorite shows and absolutely hilarious. I strongly recommend it if you like dry sarcastic humor.

Google Timer Tech Tip
So I usually use my phone to set up a timer when I need it but recently I have been trying to leave my phone in my backpack when studying. This is where the Google Timer came to be a great tool for me. I used it for when I was reading because sometimes I like to make a 30 minute timer to make sure I read each day for at least that long. This allowed me to not get distracted as easily. I'm definitely going to continue using this because it seems to work really well in keeping me focused.

Tech Tip: Canvas Mobile App
I've recently downloaded the Canvas Mobile App onto my iPhone. The process was extremely easy for all it took was to go to the App store, search Canvas, download the app, put the University of Oklahoma in and you're good.
What I like about the app most is that I can see the files immediately. For example in my Molecular Biology class he puts all of his lectures annotated onto Canvas which I would normally have to down load on my computer to study, but with the app I am able to view it on my phone and study in places without having to have my lap top with me. I also like how it sends me notifications about assignments that I have and even gives me a to do list.
I'm surprised the app hasn't been more advertised and I'm only hearing about this now. This would have came in handy the past few years as well.
Overall: Great App no complaints in the least.

Gavin's Tech Tip: First Tweet
I've been using twitter for a few years now but I have never used it for anything other than jokes, facts, and random communication between others. This is my first time to use it with a class or even be encouraged to tweet for a class. I think it will be a great thing being it can communicate random short information to the class. I just used the account I have always used because it seemed simpler than creating a new twitter. I hardly ever tweet myself but I do get on fairly often to read my feed. Anyways this should be a simple way to learn more about the class and communicate myself if needed.
